Program Overview

Apple’s Hot Work Program is intended to prevent accidental fires, loss of life, injury, and property loss associated by reducing the hazards of work involving open flames, sparks and high heat. The program involves a hot work permit system to ensure that all hot work is reviewed for safety prior to commencement of the work. 

Covered Individuals

Employees and contractors who conduct the following activities are covered by this program:

  • Activities that product sparks, slag or intense heat, such as soldering, welding, cutting, burning, heating, or grinding
  • Construction/demolition activities involving portable gas or arc welding equipment, open flame or spark-producing apparatus

Training

Employees who perform hot work are required to complete the following training:
